Petrelli Vs Carlisle...the Musical
Oct. 7th, 2010 07:17 pm"Petrelli VS Carlisle -- The Musical"
Who: Peter Petrelli & Peter Carlisle (Blackpool)
When: Six months before Season 1
"He's making a mess."
Peter glanced up at the head nurse and arched an eyebrow. "Oh yeah?"
"Yes. And he keeps singing. Take him down to X-Ray."
Peter didn't exactly care for the tone of voice his superior was using, but with two months left of his internship, he couldn't stand being a smart ass. Shaking the hair out of his face, he took the chart under his arm and headed down to the waiting room. "Mister Peter Carlisle?" he asked, smiling as he always did. Patients in pain preferred to have a happy face to greet them.

Date: 2010-10-09 04:37 pm (UTC)Diane was grinning when Peter turned around, another of his classmates from the night before waiting to meet this mysterious Scottish cop Peter had talked up for the three hours they'd waited.
"Don't say it isn't. God damn, sexy voice."
Peter laughed. "Go tell him. He's always looking for his next future wife," he said, headed down the hall with her in step.
"Next wife? Pete, he came to see you. I doubt he wants a wife."
Peter paused and turned towards her. They were roughly the same height and build, so it was hard for him to look imposing. "What do you--?"
Diane laughed. "He likes you, honey."
Peter flushed and headed off to finish his rounds. Things had gotten complicated very quickly. What was he suppose to do now?
He got changed in the locker room and went to meet the other Peter in the cafeteria, setting down his satchel and looking at the wrappers on his tray. "Where do you keep it all?"

Date: 2010-10-09 04:51 pm (UTC)His wrappers littered around him and the lolly in his mouth was being idly twirled as Peter approached.
Carlisle couldn't hear what the other man had said, he was too busy listening to the music and the volume was so loud, the music was almost bursting out the headphones.
"You won't feel nothin' till you feel, you feel the power, just the power of love," Carlisle sang playfully to the other Peter, grinning as he plucked the headphones from his ears, the tinny noise still blaring out. "Hello!"

Date: 2010-10-09 05:07 pm (UTC)Really, who faked an injury to come and see a nurse? People that were really into that nurse. And who waited around until they got off work, or sang to them like that?
Peter sank down into the seat in across from Carlisle and set his cheek into his palm. The guy was persistent. And he'd only be here for another four days, right?
So what was the harm in it all?
Peter smiled widely. "Hi there," he said, charming without realizing it, his entire face lighting up with his eyes. "Wanna grab lunch somewhere or are you good?"

Date: 2010-10-09 05:21 pm (UTC)"Lead the way, I'm right behind you."
And right behind Peter he was, doing a small little spin and dancing along slightly as he hurried after his new best friend. Carlisle didn't make many friends so he supposed this was the best thing to come from his trip America yet!
Well, logically he shouldn't be doing the things he did back home that tended to lose him friends but his mind didn't work that way. Acting odd got him this far, didn't it?
"Well I guess it would be nice, if I could touch your body, I know not everybody has got a body like youuu," he unfortunately sang from behind just as they exited reception, not actually aiming at anyone, he just got caught up in that line. Still rather oblivious, he hopped happily along behind Peter, a bright smile on his face as he hummed along to the beat.
The nurses just watched the odd pair with a look of utter bemusement

Date: 2010-10-09 05:33 pm (UTC)"He's Scottish, that's good enough for me!"
"And his hair!"
"I know, right? I could just slide my hands in there and get lost for--"
"Well, it's nice he's finally seeing someone."
"He hasn't dated anyone since we started--"
The women kept on long after Peter and Peter left the hospital. The pair got a taxi, though it was only because of Carlisle's broken foot that Peter caught him hopping around on just after he finished that embarrasing line.
If he hadn't known it already, that song would have cinched it. So. Peter Carlisle was interested in him. How to handle it? Obviously, Peter was interested right back. But how did this stuff work? It wasn't like a date, right?
Peter's head was swimming as he reached up and plucked the earbuds from Carlisle's ears. "Stop trying to seduce me," he ended up with, a tease that wasn't really a tease.

Date: 2010-10-09 05:41 pm (UTC)Turning his head, he pulled out the other earbud and raised an eyebrow. Oh yes! Probably shouldn't be singing all of that to Peter, especially not after that kiss.
He couldn't deny that he was very interested in Peter, as a friend mainly, usually he just went for women so it didn't even factor into his head that Peter might be interested.
So to him, right here and now, it was just a little joke. With perhaps a few bits of truth hidden under it all.
"Right, yes, well lets fine a less suggestive song... errr...," Frowning down at his mp3 player, he wasn't sure which one to pick. So he settled for turning it off and offering Peter a small shrug.
"We can live without music for now, huh?"

Date: 2010-10-09 05:59 pm (UTC)Carlisle was weird, a little bit stalkerish, but Peter liked that too. Who else in his entire life had shown him that sort of attention?
"So," he said, once they had sodas and a basket of warm bread, "what do you like to do when not singing and faking injuries?"

Date: 2010-10-09 06:08 pm (UTC)Course he wasn't about to delve into how much he both resented and relief on work to keep him stable after just knowing this guy. Quirks, habits and oddness were fine to share, his own personal problems were his and his alone.
And maybe one very annoyed doctor back in Scotland.
"What about you? When you're not nursing around or playing games, any interests?"

Date: 2010-10-09 06:17 pm (UTC)He smiled, the corners of his lips moving only somewhat even if the majority of the smile touched and stayed in his eyes. He was a very pretty man, even with that slightly nerve damaged lower lip that made him look like he was pouting from time to time.
"But you travel a lot, do you? So this just isn't a special case? Where to next?"
Was it just him, or did it feel awkward now that he was genuinely trying to have a get to know you session? Peter felt like he was sinking.

Date: 2010-10-09 06:31 pm (UTC)Though he didn't mind the travelling. He tried to relax and stay put in Blackpool with Natalie but that soon died. He got restless, fed up and it didn't help that she was cheating on him.
"What about you? Big traveller?"
He assumed that most people had been somewhere in there time and apparently, from what he'd heard at the office, the Petrelli had a fair bit of money. Probably more than his parents.

Date: 2010-10-09 06:39 pm (UTC)The younger of the pair shrugged a little, fiddling around with his beer without really drinking it. "Not really. My parents have a house in Maine we use to go to each summer. I hated it. Now my brother, he's been all over the world with the Navy. It was never something I was interested in. I wanted to join the Peace Corp though..."
He had to laugh. His father and mother had adamantly refused and the paperwork got lost. Evidently it was too dangerous for their youngest.
This had to have been the third time Peter brought up his brother...but it was hard not to when he was still living under his shadow.

Date: 2010-10-09 06:47 pm (UTC)"I wanted to join the force when I was 16, I did and thats all, not exactly exciting. But I do know that as liberal as I am, helping others just doesn't work."
It was an oddly cynical stance for someone as happy and friendly as Carlisle but he was honest at times, he didn't see all that much good in humanity and he often refused too.
Being a copper ruined his morality.

Date: 2010-10-09 07:12 pm (UTC)Or that people weren't worth it.
He fell silent, head down, and took a quick sip of his beer. He found it a little tasteless really, and scratched at his arm before he turned intense eyes back towards Carlisle.
"It's our job to help people, both of us. And I like to think I at least made a difference."

Date: 2010-10-09 07:28 pm (UTC)Huh, Peter looked kind of pissed at him.
"What? Oh come on, look I'm all for helping people and you probably save peoples lives all the time or at least help but it doesn't matter. People are jerks, everyones out for themselves and as much as I love to play hero, I know its not true. Some people can't be helped and other don't want to. No one ever really changes."
Working as a copper, having an unlucky love life and generally putting up with life, he had plenty of cynical ideas on people. He was a hopeless romantic sure, but that didn't mean he couldn't think lowly of people.

Date: 2010-10-09 07:56 pm (UTC)Christ, did he have to lick every finger like that? Peter ripped his eyes away from the other man and stood up before dessert could arrive. He paid in cash for lunch and smiled again at the other Peter.
"Sorry, I actually need to run." It was a lie. "But stay off that foot, all right?"
There was no mention of seeing him again. Really, Peter should have known better. He ran his hands through his hair as he exitted the shop.
They really had nothing in common. It had all been...what? Physical attraction? That worried him so much.

Date: 2010-10-09 08:05 pm (UTC)Instead he stayed up, finished dinner then sat there in though till the place had to close, course he ordered coffee inbetween so he didn't get kicked out.
He didn't have much else to do and his friend just ditched him cause he'd overly offended him. He should of known, why else would Peter be a nurse! He wanted to help people, trashing on said people was a bad move.
Sleeping in his motel didn't happen for one reason, he simply couldn't. How could he sleep when he was this restless? He wanted to go apologise to Peter but the later it got, the more he put it off.

Date: 2010-10-09 08:40 pm (UTC)"Pete, jeez, it's eleven. I have the boys to take to baseball tomorrow and-- Is this over some girl?"
Peter sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Kinda," he lied, feeling terrible about it.
"Oh, all right. Big brother to the rescue. I'll be over soon."

Date: 2010-10-09 08:47 pm (UTC)The only shop open that he could find was a very small convenience store that basically only food, beer or alcohol. Neither made a good gift.
Tugging nervously at his T-shirt as the shop owner dismissed him, he peered around the food isle before idly grabbing a few things Peter might like. Tin of soup to pay him back for the food he'd eaten, some cigarettes in case he smoked, a beer to cheer him up... and some bandages-- Well Peter was nurse!
Well, it made sense in his head.
With a bag full of questionable shopping Peter stumbled around trying to find where Peter's place was. It was so hard to track things down in a strange place.
When he did find it, he spent the next five minutes, shifting from foot to foot, right outside Peter's apartment block, with his bag of shopping. The traffic flew by behind him as he stared up at the other Peters window with a frown.
... Now what?!

Date: 2010-10-09 08:54 pm (UTC)This was not the best neighborhood. Nathan told Peter time and time again that he was going to get raped or murdered or some drug dealer would accidently leave his stash and get him framed. Peter found all of those situations to be really too funny, and despite how many times he told Nathan not to worry, there was a new apartment listing in his email inbox twice a week.
And even a promise to help pay if he still wouldn't touch his trust fund.
Nathan was a good bit more muscled than Carlisle, but still shorter. His face, however, had to be familiar for the DI. It graced a lot of buses.

Date: 2010-10-09 09:01 pm (UTC)"Um, yes. Right. Very fine, thank you. Just waiting for something," Gripping his shopping tighter, he glanced upwards at Peters window before dropping his head back down to the other man and offering a smile.
It was only polite, after all.
"Um, hello, also. Its nice to meet you," he offered, patting the man on the shoulder then tearing his eyes from the helpful bus man and back up to Peters window.

"Why don't you walk away, buddy. You won't find anything here for sale, if you know what I mean."
Jesus. He'd have to bombard Peter's email everyday now.

Date: 2010-10-09 09:41 pm (UTC)Peering back up at Peters place, he frowned for a second... Did Peter sell drugs? Nah, he couldn't!
Well, he could. He had brilliant access to drugs, a nice little spot and the neighbour probably had a few junkies. In fact, he could make a lot of money.
Clearing his throat, he tore his mind off his thoughts and looked back at the annoyed man. "I have things for a friend, I just ... I'm thinking. You can go, I'm not here to kill anyone or anything. And I can't vote for you either, not registered."

Date: 2010-10-09 09:46 pm (UTC)There was a buzz, the door opened, and in went Nathan, disappearing.
He dropped the pizza on Peter's 'coffee table' and shrugged off his coat as his brother set out the beer. "There's some weird Scottish guy just hanging around down in front of your building. Thought he was a new dealer. Seriously, Pete you need to think about mo-- Pete? Peter, are you listening to me?"
Of course he wasn't. He was jerking up the window to hang out it.

Date: 2010-10-09 09:50 pm (UTC)"I brought a gift!" he yelled upwards before setting the bag down by his feet and sighing.
"I'm sorry I insult humanity and your job! So... So I brought you soup! And some cigarettes! Do you smoke? I don't but I thought you might!"
Course yelling in the middle of the street caught the attention of many stragglers still out there.

Date: 2010-10-09 09:54 pm (UTC)Peter's eyes softened from a good six stories up, so it wasn't as if Carlisle could see it.
"I don't smoke," he yelled back. "We have pizza, do you want to come up?"
Nathan smirked, staying quiet for now as he watched Peter. What was going on?
